A webinar was organized on the “emerging trends in workplace policies” where Mr. Augustus Azariah, HR Leader, IBM, elaborated on the benefits of flexible work, types of flexible work arrangements and the tools & support for managing workplace flexibility.
Mr. Azariah spoke about how HR in last decade has gone drastic transformation – It has gone from being process centric to experience centric, intuitive to science driven, from re-engineering to agile and design thinking. Today’s workforce consists majorly of millennials who looks for digital solutions, wants a customized experience in line with consumer experience. They require a flexible and compelling workplace with rapid career growth. Mr. Azariah stated that the ‘New Way of Working’ will not be a set and forget action and will not happen overnight. Additional collaboration, communication and training tools are required and needs to be budgeted for. The new way of working could provide for lower overall costs but not necessarily be cheap. He added that a single, consistent and new way of working for all team members across geographic locations will increase the effectiveness across the project teams. Team members could meet periodically, face to face. An integrated collaboration platform helps align the team and improve transparency, productivity, efficiency and trust across projects and organisations.
