A webinar ‘Enhancing Supply Chain Performance Using Theory of Constraints’ was organized in association with Indian Institute of Materials Management Bangalore (IIMM). The session discussed how scarce resources could be utilized intelligently in order to maximize the performance of businesses. Mr. Mr. Murali J, Head– Supply Chain, Logistics and Merchandising, Titan Company Limited, Bangalore is the speaker. Mr. Murali explained the Theory of Constraints that was framed by Dr. Eliyahu Goldratt. He said this approach aims to continually achieve the goals of a system with faster results. He stated that the retail store performance of various products differ. He listed the best practices followed by Titan Watch Division. He also gave examples of different undesirable effects like excess inventory, sluggish response, lost sales , mark downs etc. The programme was attended by Supply chain professionals, academicians and entrepreneurs. Mr. Jayaraman Subramanian, Chairman, IIMM Bangalore and Dr. Bose Nair, Vice President, World Trade Center also spoke.
